Self Change - How to improve Daily

Updated: Jan 3

By: Kornah Flowers

Dear Friends,

Daily improving our mindset and attitude is the greatest work we can do on ourselves and for ourselves. We can only improve our circumstances when we are willing to improve ourselves first.

Our mindset and attitude affect everything and everyone in our lives for as long as we live.

Self-change starts with our mindset. Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad results, and vice versa. We should intentionally work on improving the way we think.

All our accomplishments and failures are products of our thoughts.

Our thoughts and feelings on the inside affect our behavior on the outside.

Here are the 3 steps that can help with self-change:

1.      Pay close attention to our thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and beliefs.

2.      Recognize when our thinking is leading us into trouble.

3.      Use new thinking. Quickly replace the old wrong thoughts with new good thoughts.

This is known as the 3 C’s: Catch it, Check it, and Change it.

We should always remember that our lives are only as beautiful as our thoughts.  Our behavior is only as calm as our minds.  The goodness of our thoughts produces the sweetness of our lives.

Here are some practical suggestions that support self-change:

  • Believe in the success of your future more than you believe in the mistakes of your past.

  • Meditate, read a motivational book, and write down your ideas before you begin your day.

  • Listen to uplifting music or a motivational speaker.

  • Create a vision board linked to:

    1. Goals – desired end results

    2. Methods – proven steps to reach those results

    3. Work – relentless, creative action

    4. Partnership – help and collaboration

    5. Accountability – performance or behavior evaluation based on expected productivity

  • Exercise daily for health and wellness.

  • Adjust your diet, if possible.

  • Every morning, write down and say seven positive things about yourself to yourself.

  • Create a bucket list of things you want to accomplish, places you want to travel, and people you want to meet. Put a timeline on your goals.

  • Develop the habit of recognizing something good in others and letting them know.

  • Surround yourself with positive people. Build a support team. Make good friends before you need them.

As we focus on self-change, it is necessary to recognize that nothing was made for itself.

Building quality relationships with the right people is not optional for success in life.

Healthy relationships give our lives meaning. We were created for relationships, not isolation. Isolation is limitation. We are stronger and better together with the right people.

We are birthed out of loving relationships. We exist for relationship, and everything flows through relationships. Relationship is at the core of our existence until we transition from time to eternity.

What is it that makes your life meaningful?

What makes your life happy?

Are relationships among your top ten answers?

It is necessary for each of us to improve our ability to interact effectively with other people. People who get along, get ahead. People who get along tend to succeed faster and with less resistance.
